Making a 'faux' Industrial Crate Cart That's 'real' Cool...

Raise your hand if you too love the industrial furniture look, but hesitate to purchase due to the $$$ price...

I decided to take industrial matters into my own hands and try out a 'faux' idea, utilizing a couple of crates and some rusty junk hardware I had on hand.

And the result? 'Real' cool...

I started with two like-minded crates of equal size, 4 casters, and some other rusty junk pieces you'll see in a moment.

The crates were first sanded down to remove any jagged edges and to brighten up the old wood a little.

They were then stacked, and screwed together.

We're nearly done already! But let's get to the best part next...

Some full swivel casters were screwed onto the underside of one crate, then flipped right side up again.

I then rummaged through my rusty junk pile and found these weird wheel bracket things. Anyone know what they are from or for?

Whatever they are, they were screwed to the fronts of the crates to give the piece an industrial cart look. Cool!

Next up, desiring the top to be a little on the more decorative side, I stenciled on Coffee Roasters in black, to give it a stamped crate look.

This may not be a real industrial cart, but it's still really cool if I do say so myself...

WOW! Like you, I LOVE the industrial look but just shudder at some of the price tags! I will definitely TRY to recreate this project and have just the perfect spot for it in my coffee “station” — much thanks!
