What is the best way to clean a built-in, overhead stove fan?

My fan was packed with years of abuse long before I moved into my apartment. I'm looking for the most effective/efficient way to clean and maintain it.

I submit a written request to the management and ask for the maintenance to call me to make an appointment to remove mine for cleaning as it would not filter the air properly and "might" have a short, or need to be checked for other problems. I take any written lease renewal contracts and requests I give to management to my bank and have their's & my copy notarized - free. This ensures management knows they have been legally notified as stated in 98% of rental contracts & also ensures they can not hold me responsible should anything that might happen because they neglected to repair. Your renters ins. does not cover ANY electrical or natural gas fires or water heater / water damages - NONE of the ins. companies cover these!Helpful Reply-

Bobbybmusic, I forgot to tell you, IF something breaks when you are trying to reach or dissemble to clean, you are financially liable for replacement or repairs.Helpful Reply-

Thank you! I pretty much figured that I am responsible for any repairs/modifications I make. I'm going to try, though, because I don't want workers traipsing through this place all day if I can help it. I'm pretty handy once I get a grasp on the right way to do something.Helpful Reply
