To make it look smooth after painting can depend on what species of veneer your talking about? Normally paint grade cabinets are made of birch and alder or popular being its a very tight grain. Whereas oak and other hardwood are a loose grain wood and will show skill pits after painting unless you use a filler to scim over the veneer first and lightly sanding smooth before printing and painting! Whether you use a latex or enamel is up to you what you want? I’d talk to your paint supplier on what paint will best serve your purposes! These days there’s so many choices to choose from and paint has changed so much in the last 10 years or so!
