How To Color Wash Using Chalky Finish Paint

When I was young, my grandmother's garage was a forbidden mystery. All I knew was that it was too cluttered and dangerous for little girls. I spent forty five years wondering what was in that garage. What I eventually discovered as I walked through that garage for the first time, was a wonderland of lampshades, art, memorabilia, vintage toys, ironstone, Fiestaware and two, yellow stools that I just finished painting.
These stools were filthy from years and years of living in my grandmother's garage. So, I cleaned the stools with a little dish soap and water.

Since I used Chalky Finish paint, I did not need to sand or prime the stools.

I applied 2 coats of the first color, Everlasting.

Then, I applied a thin coat of the second color, Primitive. While it was still wet, I sprayed it with a spray bottle and then wiped off the paint with a paper towel.

Your surface will look like this....subtle variations between the two colors. It's a very soft effect.

I applied a coat of clear wax all over. Then added some dark wax along edges and crevices, wiping it off after applying it.
