My liner is so stained I'm afraid it's beyond repair. It's also starting to come down at places. I need help. My car is old but I want to Keep it nice

Not sure what kind of car you have, but I replaced a headliner in my daughters little Toyota. They are installed in the car but just a few screws and clips and trim pieces. I had never done it before, but I was able to slide it right out. It came out in two pieces If I remember correctly. The headliner is molded to fit your car. I slid it out the back door, scrapped off the old liner,
Went to walmart and bought a material I liked. Took some batten material sprayed glue on mold, then overlayed material over that, again with spray glue. Then after drying for a day put it back in the car same way it came out.
Might want to keep notes or picture where everything went.
