Enamel in an eggshell or semi-gloss
Alkaloid enamel. A high gloss finish is the easiest to keep clean.
Semi gloss or high gloss are the ones you can wash without stripping the paint of layer by layer. They are also easiest in humid, moist environments like bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens. I wish the previous owners of this house had done semi gloss in the kitchen, they just used the same as they used in the living room and other rooms.
If you don't want the shine of a gloss, you can get a special finish made for bathrooms at paint store that also resist mildew.
My preference is for a gloss finish, just make sure you use the correct formula paint for kitchens and bathrooms.
