How to Plank Over a Popcorn Ceiling... Instantly!

$150
Medium
I wasn't in love with my popcorn ceiling. I personally think popcorn is best served in movie theatres. So when I was recently challenged to decorate my bathroom, I decided the popcorn would not do.
Installing a few planks was all this took. The end result is so stunning, I have a hard time believing this is my house... and that I did that! :)
Now I have a hankering to take in a movie... with popcorn of course!
Have you ever tried planking a ceiling before? What's your own fav ceiling treatment?
( Edited to add: the ceiling fan is still intact. The finished ceiling shot is simply a different angle that didn't catch the fan.
The paint colour of the bathroom is (tan) Bamboo Beach at half strength, and white is straight out of the can, both by Cloverdale Paint in Canada )
This beautiful planked ceiling is not that hard to do!
Can you relate to the very popcorn before? Let's make it beautiful!
Thin pine planks were prepainted. Check out the blog for a ton of tips and a neat paint trick to brighten up that white even more.
Starting at one end, one by one, the planks were cut to size and air nailed into place.
Here's the vanity that caused all the commotion, which looks even better with the new ceiling in place! Visit bathroom reveal at: http://bit.ly/1jRzrbF
Next up? A bigger room! Wish me luck. :)

What kind of planks did you use and where did you buy them from? I am running into a problem of the wood saying on he specs “dry conditions only” and not mold resistant. So if you could help me please.

    Thank you Christina

    Just wondering how this would

    look with hardwood floors?

We are original thin, oak coloured floors.... but I hate our ceiling!

Fantastic job. I was desperate just looking at my ugly popcorn ceiling... thanks for the idea...why I did not come up with it ? I used vinyl planks for my newly done bathroom. So am going to try this. Thanks.
