Make an Area Rug With Samplers

My son wanted a new loft bed and was away at summer camp. I thought I would surprise him.
My husband had gotten ahold of some sampler carpet rectangles. These carpet pieces were 2ft x 18".
I thought I could put them together and place that under the loft bed. I selected 9 and threw them on the ground to make a pattern. Once I had that worked out I started sewing. I had some thread in my stash that was a little plastic feeling. I figured that would make the stitches strong enough. I started sewing them together and used an x pattern.
I didn't take a picture of the stitching. You can see how each piece of carpet has a trim piece of fabric on the edges. I used this to sew them together. The thread I used was black and you can see it faintly.
This is the final project!
It came out really nice! And it didn't cost anything. I used all things I had on hand.

Great minds. Use Duct/Duck tape on the back. That would be my way of doing it too. I love the colors. A job well done. Carpet samples used to be easy to come by, but now they may not be so available. People learned you could use them for crafts, and ideas such as this rug.
