I would use spackling to fill the crack, if it is deep it may need to be done in layers as the spackling may shrink. It will have to be painted, which may mean the whole ceiling. Depending on the texture of the ceiling texture may be added to the paint or you may have to get creative with the spackling. Make sure there is no underlying problems with your foundation as it may not be just settling. You can find everything you will need in the paint department at your local Home Depot.
I used spackle paste mixed with a little bit of water and "Dabbed" it on with a dry brush to try and recreate the same texture. It gets hard when it dries and then painted to match my walls and ceiling.
Bit more of the texture mix. or Filler that you can make look just like.
Don’t just cover without repairing crack or it will come right back. Scrap the area clean, take a box cutter and make a slanted cut on either side of the crack like a wide V. Fill in V with drywall mud, tape the crack and trowel drywall puddy over area. Let dry, sand to get smooth finish, may need a second coat, let dry then sand. Now put your texture over repair. I don’t know what your texture is but you can purchase sand ceiling paint. Paint reparied area and feather in.
I had done this in thin layers with joint compound. Using this allowed me to texture my patchwork to match the already textured ceiling. this saved me the extra step of re-texturizing the entire ceiling.
