The mulch I purchased last year had mushroom like things growing out of it. What is that? And does someone know how to get rid of fungus in mulch?

Probably a fungus, which is what mushrooms are. They actually can be beneficial to gardens and flower beds and are usually caused by mild spring like weather and rain.

Obviously your mulch was contaminated with mushroom spores. Try sprinkling baking soda over the mushrooms and they will die off.

sounds like it got wet and you have the spores to bad they are not edible

You made me feel better as I was stomping on those mushrooms so no one would see them. Didn't know they wouldn't harm anything.

The first two posters on here are telling you that the mushrooms/fungus is actually good for the garden or flower beds. Might want to check that out!
