    toung and groove, very big in the 1950s cow boy decor, paneling has different type of vertical style and comes in different finishes. The paneling is in 4 ft by 8 ft sheets. I haven’t had to replace the toung in groove yet......

    Pallet wood, bead-board...any boards can be used vertically on a wall.

    Half wall or full wall knotty pine, or panels of 1” wide vertical (4” x 8”sheets)?

    They are wonderful for country look or cowboy/western look, depending on the color of the stain or paint. For that matter, work with contemporary if dramatic high gloss paint is used.

    Not sure what you are wanting to do. Will this be an accent wall or act as a headboard in a bedroom? You can often find great deals on flooring at surplus building supply stores and even at big box like Lowe’s and The Home Depot. Laminates and/or handscraped woods can be used. Many are clic lock systems and can be applied vertically by using liquid nails as an adhesive.
