I hate our Venetian blinds but don’t want fabrics because of dust.

I don’t want expensive woods interior shutters like we had in previous home, which I loved but want non porous alternative idea. Suggestions?

I have seen Plantation Shutters made from a gorgeous, heavy vinyl that looks and feels like wood. They are easily cleaned. Each window had a valance made of wood, painted or stained. Both great looks.

I use Window shades, as I hate to clean blinds. But I also have curtains on top of them.

Hi Patricia. You can purchase a faux wood blind. Some local home improvement stores can even cut them to size right in the store. You just have to take your measurements. I did this and it turned out great, and very inexpensive. As a matter of fact my parents ended up doing their whole house because they liked mine so much.

You can get a vinyl material that is non-porous, and available in wood tone or a variety of colors.

I would use a roller shade. There are beautiful fabrics that many of the manufacturers offer. You can also get a cornice to add to the window.
Everything you put on windows will have to be cleaned but roller shades would be the easiest just vacuum lightly to remove dust.

have you thought about using a window film for privacy? Home Depot sells them with coloured designs (like stained glass) or simply opaque ones. They adhere tothe window using static electricity so no damage to the window if you change your mind

I think everyone has the right idea for you with roller shades. Use a valance - this can be made with just about any material - and you're done. If you don't need the thermal help or want something decorative that light will come through - definitely go with the window window clings. They are fabulous and don't collect dust, either.

I believe IKEA has a roller shade that isn't fabric. Double check on the material and you might want to ask about their cleaning recommendations: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20314603/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3ubr54CC4AIVCorICh25ywCqEAQYASABEgIGBvD_BwE
