How do you keep a front load washing machine from molding inside ?

Maybe try a vinegar cleanse through one or two cycles. I would also suggest leaving the door open to air out for a while after a regular wash cycle

Constant vigilance. Doors open when not running, and an occasional run through empty with bleach. Then a second run through with vinegar. Wipe rubber with old toweling.

Leave the door open after use. See if this helps!

Do not close the door Tight. Always leave it open for air to circulate. Make sure tye rubber seal area in the door is draining any excess water. Wipe that area out.

Don't close the door between washing. Once a week run it empty with 1-2 cups of white vinegar.

From what I hear, this is a very common problem. We ended up getting rid of our front loader for just this reason.

Several things that do help:

1- leave the door open after a wash. Didn't work for us because of where our machine was located though.

2- wipe down the inside, especially the rubber seal around the door, after every wash. Seriously! Don't have to tell you why that's impractical.

3- place a dehumidifier tub/bag in the machine after every use. Something like what Star Bright makes, or Damp Rid is inexpensive and does work.

Ah, first off, don't close the door when not in use. Second, the easiest thing is to run a cycle using just about anything - detergent, bleach, a washing machine freshener - with the hottest water you can. If it's an ongoing problem, do that as often as needed. My door is never closed unless the machine is in use. We have never had the problem.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN AFTER EACH USE.

Leave the door opened when not in use and try Botox on the mood.

You can also buy a solution that they use for dishwashers and keurigs etc, but it really just amounts to a vinegar solution. You could do the vinegar solution, but add a bit of bleach to kill the mold that is hiding. Also, and I know it sounds wierd, but mold and mildew also need some darkness to grow, any way you could cut down on darkness when you leave it open.

Vikki, I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out your problem. You seem to be doing EVERYTHING right. So my suspicion now lies not in the tub itself but somewhere that moisture can get but won't wash out. Have you tried removing the soap dispenser housing? I didn't know I could do that until I read the manual - and boy - it was both smelly and gross. The other thing is your door gasket. Can it be taken off - or at least unfolded? A LOT of stuff gets stuck in there. If you can at least unfold it, you might try giving it a good spray with a disinfectant and wiping it dry with paper towels. The only other thing I can think of is that an inner gasket (between the basket and the actual tub) has slipped. You may have to have someone come out and take it apart to check. Whatever happens, I'm rootin' for ya!
