Nautical Spool Clock

I wanted to make a nautical clock I had the colors and the look all ready done in my head lol ,but with diy things don't always go as planned .
Like always U start out with one side of a large wire spool I already took apart . iis easy to do I think I explained it in my previous clock post, I painted the center white because I plan on decoupaging a map on the center painting it white first will prevent any color change to you paper .
Here's the map I cut up to look old and damaged I wanted to make sure all the pieces fit before I stick them on.
Incase your wondering this is what I use Modge Podge to stick the paper on and the crackle to give the painted wood and older look .
Ok so first I painted a light coat of white paint then painted the crackle over that . I also modge Podge the paper on the center and I hated it . To me it looks Orange I thought maybe if I add some blue ?????
Nope not doing it for me soooo l peel off the paper and paint white over the blue .
starting to look better.
Here's a close up doesn't it look nice and aged with the crackle and chipped paint .
I used a large piece of paper to draw a nautical compass I wanted to have an idea as far as measurments .
I definitely like this better as can see pianted the compass on and now I'm going to paint a compass in the center
Getting there lol ok painted the compass in the center painted my numbers on and now to add the rope.
To prevent the rope from falling apart I tape off the spot I'm going to cut and then use a razor to cut the rope . to prevent the rope from fraying I put hot glue on the cut end then remove the tape . It's perfect no fraying at all.
