I have an Aunt who gives me all her old wine boxes to upcycle. These are the boxes that you are given when you buy 6 bottles of the same wine. You should be able to get them from most wine merchants.

This time I decided to combine the wine box with some LED lights from IKEA to make a light box sign.

The best thing about this

The wine box was a bit too new looking for my taste so I stained it with some dark furniture wax, to give it a more aged look.

I drilled a hole in the side of the wine box. I made sure that it was large enough to thread through the wires of the IKEA Ledberg LED lights.

Using the sticky pads they came with I stuck the IKEA lights to the inside of the box at the top.

Next, I made a very simple frame for the front of the box and also stained that with dark wax.

I designed the signs for the lightbox on the computer using a free graphics program called CANVA.com. However, you can just do them in word.

As I wanted to make the sign easy to change I simply attached the printed acetate sheet to the frame with velcro sticky dots. A double-sided sticky tape will work just as well though.

Finally just attach the frame to the front of the box (with either velcro or sticky pads), and switch on the light.

I actually made several different signs, one for Coffee, a Birthday bunting sign and one of my favorite word. If you go to the blog you can see them.

What a creative idea!!!! Now if I can just find a wine box, sigh. Love it.
