This wicker chair was a freebie but I thought it was a little boring. Enter spray paint and (teal)oops paint from Home Depot along with fabric medium ( mixed with paint for fabric)
and fine sand paper.
Before nice.... but boring chair.
I randomly sprayed chair with grey and beige paint. It was nice but the cushion seemed boring. I found a can of teal paint on the oops shelf at Home Depot for about $4. I researched methods on u-tube on how to paint fabric.
I purchased this product from Michaels (read instructions)It’s mixed with paint and water. Has thin consistency.
First coat.... not too bad. Afterward I used fine sandpaper to soften fabric.
Second coat— lightly sand
Oops paint teal
Finished piece. The fabric is a little crunchy but overall I’m happy with the result... don’t be afraid to paint fabric... this project cost $20
Suggested materials:
  • Spray paint in beige and grey, oops paint   (Home Depot, Michaels)
  • Fabric medium, brushes, fine grit sandpaper

The “oops paint”. Is it a regular flat or pearl interior acrylic? Will the paint rub off on clothing? It’s awesome.

Very Nice ! I Love the color of the cushion, and good choice of mixing the colors on the chair. Great Job.

Great results as shown by your pictures. Well done! Another method you might want to try: Rit Dye in a spray bottle. Works great for dark over light fabric conversion. Choose a sunny day and work outside. Wear old worn-out clothes. Dye can be messy. First mist entire piece lightly with plain tap water. Then spray lightly with Rit Dye diluted in hot water as instructed on the package. (The first misting with tap water helps the dye absorb into the fabric evenly.) Allow fabric to dry. Spray additional layers of dye, allowing to dry in between, if darker color is preferred. I have used this method for several pieces (including a boring full sized off-white sofa that became jazzy purple and teal) with great results. Simple, easy, cheap, FUN!

That sounds awesome. I would probably try this on small piece first. 👍🏻
