Toilet cleaning

The rim around the toilet bowel at the top of the water is sometimes pink and sometime black. It seems to be there again after 2 days of cleaning. And after cleaning there is still a diminished line there. Could an eraser sponge remove that line? And is there a better way to clean a toilet other than with commercial cleaners?

you have mold growing! Use bleach!

  • Vinegar. Vinegar kills mold spores, bleach does not. Try wiping down well and see what happens. Chances are the ventilation in the room could be improved. Crack a window if there is one, use the exhaust fan. In my master bath I keep the window cracked year round, but I am in Southern CA, not possible in colder climates.

Use a pumice stone on that line, it won't damage porcelain and takes off the line that is usually mineral deposits from your water. The deposits hold onto bacteria etc and will continue to "grow" and need cleaning more frequently. I am a huge magic eraser fan but it won't work in this situation. If that doesn't work, use a product called CLR, which stands for calcium, lime and rust. This will help dissolve the deposits and can be used in conjunction with the pumice stone.

You could try dumping a can of Coke in the bowl at night and not flush it until the next day. Of course, you will never drink Coke again, but your toilet bowl should be clean.

Try Castile soap and baking soda. A little of both, worth a try....
