Keeping Track of Paint Colors

I am constantly painting things in my home. Whether it is furniture or walls you're trying to buy accessories for or if you are trying to purchase complimentary colors or more of the same it is hard when you are standing in front of a wall of colors trying to remember colors or at least get close. After changes in our home this year I decided I was never going to be caught without my color choices again. Here is what I did:
I purchased some wooden craft sticks. The ones I purchased are about 3" long. I used a 50% off coupon from my local craft store.
I gathered the paints I used on the first floor of my home and gave each stick two coats. One coat is not enough. You want to make sure you get good coverage and the depth of the color represented well on your sticks. Allow them to dry completely. This will take a day or so depending on the weather which is why this has a 2 day project time. (Honestly, it took less than hour of actual work.)
Label each colored stick with the color name, maker, sheen/finish and room it was used on.
Drill a hole in the end of each stick and feed onto a key ring.
Attach to your keys or carry in your purse or car. You'll always have your colors with you-making shopping for your home a lot more enjoyable. No more worries about having to return items that don't quite match.
