Not hard at all. Use a planting mix for seedlings, nothing with a fertilizer in it the seeds have thier own. You can use cell trays yougert cups tp spools...put a tray under them to coral the water. The back of the seed pack will tell you how deep to set the seed. Water well and set in warm area. I have heat mats under mine...they come in different sizes. My plants are started in a cooler basement. The heat helps. When the plants have a few sets of leaves that look like tomato plants and not blob like...and the soil has warmed up and the danger of frost has past. harden them off...that is aclimate them to the great out doors...slowly. Okay time to head into work....

Hi Louy123, I have been gardening for many years. This year, for the first time, I am going to try to start some plants from seeds. Veggies and flowers. On the back of the seed packet, you will find instructions of when to start your plants according to the zone you live in. I got a few aluminum roasting pans with clear lids from the dollar store. I am going to use them to make small greenhouses. I have been saving TP tubes and paper towel tubes to put my soil and seed in. The cardboard tubes can be transplanted right into the garden. They will break down naturally. I hope this helps you. Best of luck to you.

I start my seeds indoors and have tried many methods, i really like the tp tubes as they biodegrade. To set this up, i use the round large clear plastic covers from bakery products-you've seen them with the cookies on the tray and the cover over them. I put the tubes upright in the clear cover, fill with the starter mix, seeds (be sure to lable the tubes ) and then transplant when they are ready and the weather permits according to the zone we are in. The black base tray is used as support and leak control. To keep the humidity in i use plastic wrap.
