What will the outside of my house look like in different colors

I live in Southwest Florida. My house needs painting but I want to see what it would look like before choosing a color. Can I take a current photo and try different paint colors to see the result?

Yes transfer a number of copies of the outline of your house onto plain paper and paste it onto card, then paint away.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not very artistic, so I'm afraid it would turn out like a drawing from a kindergartener!

Me too. Boring white house with no real trim, just some fake stone areas. We had to install tracks on every window for aluminum hurricane shutters. They are white, so I’m stuck with a White House I guess.

My house was originally pink with white trim. The pink faded so much that it looks all white! I like the white trim but need to find appropriate color that would also look good with a light grey speckled tile roof. And I don't want my house to stick out like a sore thumb!

I checked out the site....the "Paint Your Place" link lets you download a photo then choose paint colors to try. Not the easiest program to use but at least you get a general idea. Thanks.

Take a photo of your house then print/photo copy the image onto paper in black and white. That way you can color the house (I suggest colored pencils) and see the results. You might end up liking that white trim with some color around it after all! Most paint stores will sell you a small jar or pint/half gallon of the finalist colors so you can swatch a portion of your wall and see it from the street, comparing the colors side by side. OR, drive around your neighborhood and see what kinds of colors do, or do not, work. An acquaintance of ours loved corals and oranges, but her house ended up looking like a chunk of cheddar cheese!

That's what I'm afraid of.....choosing a color that will look hideous when done!

Use tracing paper to outline the house. Cut out the shape and paint it, then when dry put it on top of photo to see what it would look like. Or put the traced outline over different colours to see how you feel. I am not up to date with new possibilities with `phones or cameras, so I am unaware whether you could change colours of things............sorry!

    Hello Lucy,

Yes, Print off black & white picture of your home, and then colour it with felt pens. Do this as many times as you like until you are happy.
