mantelpiece displays are not like rugs or sofas, that are permanent features. mantelpieces can be changed whenever the mood strikes and always for holidays. They are usually a focus of a room. . . mine certainly is as you see it upon entering the house. When I do this I mostly have an idea in mind, maybe because lilacs are in bloom, or its someone's birthday or I found something cute to display. First thing I do is gather elements that go together. In the case of the mantel featured here is was: stone eggs, next I got my stone urns, then in the cellar the botanical prints.
Stone eggs with holders. These were purchased years ago at our Surplus/salvage store. I think they were $3 each.
Got my stone urns. These were a gift and I dearly love them and use them often.
The botanical prints are from a calendar. I have 10 more to frame. These were just glued to two pieces of board that I think were the right size, although it is possible my husband cut the boards to fit. I a saw toothed hanger on the backs.
This is the way it looked in total. The wonderful glass chimneys I had for many, many years and then broke one. The only cost would have been the flowers. Oh, I see the little birds. They were also a gift.
