There are sooo many options, depending on the look you are after. If you want a wood wall, sanded planks from old pallets stained to your desired color would make a lovely accent wall. And, wood does not need to be all one color, size or be hung horizontally. A nice anfle or even a herringbone pattern would give a lot of character. Be sure to bring any outlet or switch boxes forward prior to hanging. Other choices are wallpaper, stencils or other painting techniques can change the appearance of a room, even if only 1 wall is effected. If you want to sink money into the change, there are many options with tile, faux brick or stone veneers or even reclaimed old barnwood. If there us a doorway on the wall, simply hanging a barndoor can change the look drastically. Hope you see something that tickles your fancy. Also, check pinterest for 'craft paper floor' this technique also works well for an accent wall, and, if done properly, looks like worn leather.
Could you provide more details? What do mean by changing the look? Adding texture? Paint? Mural?
