  • Well, it depends. Do you use the fireplace regularly? How is the heat diverted out of the fireplace? My newest TV (was a gift, mine are ancient, one is at least 30 years old), said not to mount over fireplace. And I use my fireplace and it gets hot and would ruin it. That being said, many people do, if it were me, I would turn your fireplace on, and after an hour or so, check to see how hot it is on the wall directly above. If too warm I wouldn't mount it there.

I had a tv mounted above my very used gas fireplace. Provided your firebox is well insulated AND, you have a suffucient mantle to divert heat from the bottom and front of your tv, you should not have a problem. Just to be sure, place a thermometer on the top center of your mantel. If it gets over 100°, check with a local fireplace store for suggestions in insulating or heat diversion prior to mounting your tv.

Usually if your fireplace has a blower then it will send the heat out instead of up. No blower usually means the heat will rise...right to your tv

I think you just need to choose the right distance. Also I recommend to use high quality TV wall mounts and stands, for example look here https://www.primecables.ca/en/c-17913-tv-wall-mounts there are many variants for choose.
