Purple is the color this spring for everything from sandals to yard decorations. It has historically been considered a color for royalty. Purple is popping up in handbags, clothes, curtains, walls, even hair colors. I decided to make my first purple decoration for spring. Here is a beautiful and easy wreath to make for your front door. It is as easy as it is colorful. A video is included at the end for making the bow for this wreath.
First I gathered up my supplies and prepared the wire hanger to make a wreath. You can leave yours as simple as this one, or add as much as you like for spring or a holiday.
I used decorative mesh, an old wire hanger, white or clear ribbon, scissors, and a white wire garbage tie (or you could use white piping) to tie the bow. The wire hanger I bent into a "roundish" shape. Yes, I made up a new word, but you get the idea.
I pulled off about 6 feet of mesh. It was 21 inches wide, so I folded it lengthwise in half, then folded it in half again to gain the bulky look. This gives about a five to six inch mesh bulge around the wire. Then I wove the open end of the wire hanger through the folds like I was basting with a needle and thread. Six feet was not nearly enough but was easy to handle, so I repeated the process 2 more times until there was plenty of bulk in the mesh. The roll I purchased came in 10 yards (30 feet) for length, so there was plenty of mesh for one wreath. Plan on a minimum of 20 feet when you buy mesh for a wreath on a normal sized clothes hanger.
Finally, I folded a bow and tied it with the white wire garbage tie then tied it around the top wire near the hook of the hanger. You can buy a white bow if you do not care to fold your own. It was not difficult with the wire sided ribbon. It is perfect for spring or Easter. For Easter you could add any colorful objects in the bulk of the mesh. There is lots of depth there for it. I like it plain, but this is a great base for a real full holiday wreath.

This was one of the easiest wreathes I have ever made. I think the spring wreath looks stunning on the door. It has metallic pink highlights that do not show in the photo, but it is stunning. Here is the bow making process in a video.
