defiantly drip irrigation and on a timer. saves on water. you can get different amounts of water depending on the drippers rating.

To install the system you hook the timer to the tap. The timer usually has a port to hook the hose to. The hose will attatch to the black irrigation pipe. You will need a tool that punctures the pipe then place the drip emitters in the hole, attatch the thin tubing to the emitter...the emitter regulates how much water to deliver...half gallon gallon. They come in different strengths. The other end away from emitter gets a stake on it that actually delivers the water to the plant.

The other methode ive used is a soaker hose/ weeping hose. Again, on a timer. No small parts to fiddle with, but uses more water.
