What to do? What to do? I am at a loss.
15 years of trying, and I still can't figure it out. Can you help me?

We have a cathedral ceiling and at one end of our living room it's wall-to-wall bookcases and a tv over fireplace. For 15 years I have been trying to figure out what to put up there. For years, it was a combination of plants, baskets, and home decor items. This picture was taken right after we moved in the house 15 years ago. Walls have color on them now and we have closed in the tv hole and it now has a shiplap wall and large mounted tv. Books are gone and replaced with other items and less cluttered. My style these days is farmhouse/cottage. The length from the peak of the ceiling to the top of the cabinet is about 30 inches. I have searched the internet and there isn't a lot dedicated to subject. Maybe nothing is the answer, but I keep looking up there and it feels like I'm missing something. I'll be glad to provide current pictures if requested. (This is the only picture I have available at the moment)
what about an old windmill fan blade, centered under the peak? I found a picture of half of one that I think would look pretty nice
The area is so angular, it could use some softening...I'd use plants, and allow some to "drip" over the edge. Unless something were put towards the front of the built ins, the visual would be difficult, and it would also be difficult to get to to clean.
How about a beautiful analog clock? An artist wall clock hung just below the peak.

Continue bookcases at an angle.
First I would have some up lighting on top of the bookshelf, candleholders with lots of greenery. They sell really cool boxes at hobby lobby, or Michaels Buy a large box put a plant inside the box draping out and extending to the sides. attached the top of the box to the back of the box this will give you height in the center too. And oversized latter will also do the job I will attach a picture

Since you like shiplap, you could put it on the wall over the bookcases. Then put some lighting up the. You could use hockey puck lights or the led lights used for under a cabinet. If you don't want more shiplap, you could put an interesting kind of tile or mosaic tiles up there. And then put the lights up there. I don't think I would put plants or anything that needed maintenance. And plastic plants still need dusting.
Found this on Pinterest. You commented that your design aesthetic was Farmhouse so by adding this moulding detail would look great in the angular cathedral space.
Just remember that when you decorate an area you draw attention to it. If that upper area is bothering you I would stay away from doing that. The moulding idea is fantastic and gorgeous! Add some things you love with pops of color toward the bottom of the room if you want to keep they eye from being draw upwards. Best of luck to you!
