Just purchased multiple stainless steel appliances and don't want to mess them up by using the wrong cleaning product.

first...stay away from the stainless steel sprays. use baking soda on a damp cloth. rub with the direction of the groves. its lightly abrasive, rinse well. the stainless steel sprays are waxy- great shine when apply but lots of water spots when water hits it. just fyi....try putting a magnet on the stainless steel. it shouldn't fall off. if it does you have a stainless steel "look" the front is probably plastic. ya i wast to happy to have a "stainless steel fridge" that was fake.

Thanks for the suggestions. The magnet trick is quite clever. Four of the new appliances are KitchenAid, one is Bosch. But I used a lightweight magnet anyway just to be sure.

Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner. I always include these as closing gifts for clients who buy houses with Stainless. I buy the wipes 2 or 3 do the whole kitchen. Wipe off spills, fingerprints let dry and finish with a light rub with lint free towel usually fingerprint free for a week or so.

I am sorry, but I would not, not, not put anything abrasive on my new stainless steel appliances. I use Magic Stainless Steel cleaner & polish. I have tried a lot of things that did leave a waxy shine, this does not and I have not seen any water spots.

Thanks. I will definitely try Magic Stainless Steel polish.

Buy the products specially made for it, works the best.

  • Before doing anything, I would read the "Use and Care" section of each owners manual for every appliance. Or look up each appliance on line, find your model and read the info there.
