OMG what a mess. Before worrying about the radiators...PAINT THAT NASTY GREEN !!! and get rid of those Balloon curtain valances.
Don’t remove the radiator covers. Please.
Number 1, it’s a pain to paint a radiator. No. 2, dust bunnies are few and invisible under cover.
Give the radiators themselves a good dusting and vacuuming. Paint the covers, completely, including the front mesh, the same color as your walls. Just be careful not to use so much paint that you block the holes. I personally put a sheet of that hard-foam insulation from HD behind my radiators so I’m not heating the outside wall.
What you’ve done looks great.
I think I'd let the tennants figure out what to do with the radiators. As long as they function, maybe could use a coat of paint. The green on the wall does make the room look small, though.
make fancy radiator covers using m.D.f. And a stencil....draw a design on 1/4” thick mdf, using a jig saw, cut the design out, place a frame around the mdf paint it all the same colour as the walls
Hi B & T, when you said you needed help with radiators I imagined some like I have in my house which are very large. You have a cover for yours and I would just paint it. We just found our radiator covers except one large one we constructed. Ours are painted/stained to match rooms they are in.
First.....you did a beautiful job on the entire room. Kudos to you! If the family you are renting to has small children you probably need to have the radiators covered, but the ones that were there took up too much room and were unattractive. Check out Lowes and Home Depot online and you could get ideas on designs and probably build really attractive covers that protect from burns but direct the heat out into the room efficiently. Again, great job.
Room turned out great I think if you’re going to be renting it I would definitely just do a neutral color on the walls and maybe some nice wood blinds
paint a greige color on the whole room, ceiling white. Remove the 1980’s valances and replace with wooden white blinds. If possible replace the 80’s fan also.🙂
