How to decorate a boring vaulted ceiling wall with a bent near the top

The home was built around 11 years ago and the wall has no fireplace and is just very basic and boring. What’s a good thing to do with this wall. We have considered ship lap and a foe stone but need more ideas. Thanks

I think shiplap would look great and modern. And then you could decorate over that with lots of picture frames, a sort of gallery wall.

How about some decorative beams, depending on what style you want - could look old and weathered, painted either in same color as ceiling (still adding some texture and interest), a slightly darker than the ceiling or completely different color as an accent?

Ship lap would be cute as a feature wall. They also have electric fireplaces that are gorgeous and can be built in the wall or if you put a tv on that wall they have consoles with fireplace in them. Costco carried them this year. I’m also a sucker for dark beams on a white ceiling.

Hi, what is your design style?

    1. If it is farmhouse, beachy - shiplap is for you
    2. If it is midcentury - a focal wall in a dark "fall back" color is for you
    3. If it is transitional - painting the walls and the ceiling the same color is for you
    4. If it is contemporary - white walls, picture lighting and great art covering the wall is for you

Whatever your look, have fun. After all, it's your house. Make it something you want to come home to.

Thanks everyone for the awesome ideas! I liked them all I‘m probably going to add the fire place idea too. I’m using gray paint for the walls and white ceilings and possibly some perma stone. If needed to accent the fire place we were looking at if we can get the gas line moved there.

The vent can be painted to match the walls. If you choose to go with shiplap try to line up the courses to work with the vent so it blends in. New vent covers in wood are out there if the ship lap isn’t painted.

Be sure to use a design program to try out the new looks. The various big box stores have them as part of their paint offerings.

I would put in a fireplace and windows on each side. I would move the thermostat and vent. After that you have many options. You could put up shiplap, tile or just paint. If you have room, you can bump your fireplace outside. We had driveways on the other side of the wall of our fireplaces, so we had to build them into the room.
