Remove the siding and paint the cinderblock with exterior cement paint

The siding is actually supposed to help the house be pretty maintenance free, Are you sure you want to do that? You could remove just the part that is falling off and redo with siding to match, or are you meaning you just want a new look? Budget?

Suebea0308, I’d really like to loose the siding. Painting is an option, as well as the idea my friend sent me. Stucco the walls and then paint? Not sure yet. The budget, minimal. Hence I’m the labor.

  • You can take down the siding and paint the cinderblock. I know a couple people that have done that. Just do this task when the weather is right. If too windy or raining, not a good time to paint. Too hot or too cold is not great either.

I did this to my home in Florida, take off the rest of the siding and hire someone to stucco the house. You can paint the stucco after it’s cured

The siding was not put on properly. If you can, have a couple ofsiding companies come out and take a look. Get estimates to fix the problem all the way around your home. And listen to what they say about why this happened. Maybe it's a fix that you can do. If you need a professional's help make sure that you are comfortable with the one you pick. Make sure they are licensed and insured.

If you want maintenance free, painting cinder block is not the answer. Vinyl siding is a much better choice and will increase the value of your home. Good luck.

Let me know what you think of this idea please!! A co-worker sent me a photo with an idea I like. I’ve diy’d the whole house so hard work doesn’t scare me one bit! Ya shoulda seen the inside. Price was too great to pass up. Ok, if I did this to whole house it would take a LONG time. Would be cool. After texture, I’d paint so it’d look like rock!

I’m not 100% sure just yet. I haven’t decided to go in this direction BUT if I do, I’ll send you directions and a photo!! Just let me know your email if you want!

Stone! Cool idea! If you go that way look online and print out a photo/template to follow a pattern. It can become daunting to the eye after a while. You can also price out stone veneer or stone siding panels. Would save on labor.

You could stucco it. Looks like your siding wasn't installed right since outs on cinderblock
