I have a timber frame home, lots of windows and furniture with patterns on them. I would love curtains that are more than bland, what can I do?

what is your decor like? Do you want the curtains just for a softer look? Or to block light? If you just want softer look you can use a creamy colored muslin, or even a light colored burlap type fabric

Can you add pictures of the furniture and house? It seems to me from your description that taupe and a rather light weight fabric would be nice, but it really depends on the prints you have. Also the style of curtains you want. Usually it is best to pick a light color version from the most dominant fabric in the room.

How many panels of curtains would you need? I would get a pair of each color that is in the patterns, and alternate the colors.

I agree with these gals pictures would help a little..... But in the meantime think about the texture of the curtains. Sometimes you can use a nice muted color that has great texture. It'll do its job of covering plus make your furniture pop.

Do you need privacy or are you merely looking for a decorative look? I have a print couch and have panels on the sides of my windows in a silk plaid that pick up the colors of the rest of the room and used sheers in the middle.

I would pull a color from the print out. I am doing this exact same project today, I just washed my fabric and waiting for it to dry, then comes the fun part making curtains and pillows...good luck and have fun doing it.

A solid color pulled from the printed fabric you have.
