A New Sofa Table Gets an Old Rustic Look

I had this sofa table just sitting in the garage staring at me. It just looked new and blah. I am a fan favorite of the rustic, farmhouse look so it was time to get to work!
I gave her a good ole cleaning with my handy dandy TSP! I lovvveeeee this stuff! It takes away all the grease and grime!
I was tooo lazy to go out and buy chalk paint. I had a quart of Sherwin Williams Tropicana Cabana! This paint is gorgeous! I mixed my paint and my unsanded grout together to make my chalkpaint (3 grout to 1 paint).
I painted the entire piece with two coats. The color was gorgeous but I wanted to make it more rustic and old looking! After 24 hrs of drying time I grabbed my Valspar Antique Glaze in Moose Mousse. Normally I would poly before I glazed so the paint would not absorb all the glaze. But for this project, I wanted it to absorb in order to get the antique, worn look.
I worked in small sections just rubbing the glaze in with a clean lint-free cloth. I had a semi-wet cloth to wipe off any access glaze I didn’t want. I then added new hardware. New pulls make all the difference. I found them at Lowes.
Lastly the Hubs removed the top and added a nice wood plank top. The size of the wood is dependent upon the size of your sofa table. I stained it with dark walnut and sealed it with poly. Now she looks all rustic and has an old farmhouse feel!
