Need solution for my yard and my five dogs

Thought I had found solution to my dogs bringing in dirt on fur and paws when I blocked them in to an area of 50'x75' and put playground mulch down. But keeping up with scooping and stopping any digging were not my strong points. Think if I put something UNDER playground mulch, it would work. But what? That won't cost a lot. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Patti

Landscape fabric. Purchase the thickest you can find. Home improvement centers sell by the yard or on rolls.
I have a similar problem with my busy little dog (seems like she has a thousand feet!) I'm planning to use a salvaged artificial turf. It is dog proof to the max and the ones they make these days are sturdy and rather attractive. Found mine on craigslist.
Many of my friends have gone to putting down packed quarter minus gravel. It keeps the mud away nicely and is attractive.
I I hope you find just the right solution.

I think if you want your dogs to be free and enjoy when outside you dont need to buy grass,purchase them a dog pool which they can use during summer.
