Repurposed dresser into a dog crate

I saw a dog crate that is being sold (very expensive) and I know it can be made from an old dresser/credenza (see picture). Has anyone done this before?

  • Yup, very popular diy for pet owners. Pinterest is full of ideas. Just need a suitable piece of furniture, some creative woodworking skills and imagination. They turn our really cute! I would shop second hand, thrift stores and Habitat re stores for a suitable piece of furniture to start with that you can pick up for not a lot of money.

It is very much like old European kitchen cabinets in which the top shelves held plates and the bottom cabinet was reserved for chickens and other fowl. Search antique furniture for more ideas.

I saw this exact thing and it was over $1500!

Yes, there's many people who have decided to do this for their pets. They are usually made from an end table or small chest, but you could do it out of any size piece to best suit your needs. Some use fabric "curtains" on the open areas to give the pet some privacy. Your imagination can go wild! Your pet can feel super special.

Yes, I made one for my Doxies. Pinterest has oodles of ideas. You can also make one from an end table too. That idea came from Hometalk and that's the one I used. It's worth looking up, it's real cute and practical. Have fun
