Masking A Window - Paint Prep

When remodeling, all the window dressings are usually taken down. A piece of painter's plastic gives the client some privacy back, and cuts the sunlight down a bit. This is also how I would protect window glass if I were getting ready to paint wood that's right up next to the glass, or when I'm spray painting.
Before: Blinds and curtain rods gone for at least a week. No privacy and direct sunlight pouring in.

I cut a piece of painter's plastic about 1 inch shorter than the window is wide. Then I use 1 1/2 inch blue tape and my 5-in-1 multi-tool to secure it tightly against the window. If I can't find my 5-in-1 for some reason, I'll use a 2 inch putty knife.
After: The glass is now protected from dust and paint. Also, we get back a little privacy while diffusing some direct sunlight.
