  • What a beautiful table! For some reason I am into "nut" colors. The shell of a hazelnut has beautiful color, so does the color of a fresh roasted pecan.

It depends on the color of chairs and any cabinets. You could do the outside rim/edge a contrasting stain to the 2 inside sections. If it were mine, I'd do the outside area darker and the inside section a bit lighter. Put samples of wood stain side by side to see which ones you like together.

Do you have a color theme, or a favorite color? I'd do a dark base so that it gets into the woodgrain and the routed line, then go over it with an ice gray wash so you can see the dark and wood grain through the color. But that is just what I would do.

Oh wow, that's pretty wood! Great job sanding it down. It looks like the edges are still dark, so maybe a medium tone stain? If you like red tones, try Minwax "gunstock". The red chestnut or regular chestnut (no red) also look great. Don't forget to put a clear coat or three over it!

I would just put a clear over it = it will bring out the natural wood color may be a satin finish 3 coats with a light sand in between

The grain of the wood is beautiful. I think if it were mine, I would stain it mahogany.
