I'd like to repurpose a completely wooden tie rack for my husband

Sorry, but I don't do pics. This rack is 5" by 18". It has a cylinder maybe an inch thick. Cylinder on which one who still wears ties would hang these accessories. Cylinder doesn't come out like a paper towel holder might. This may be weird, but I am trying to think of some kind of material to use to display the meaning of his name surrounded by his interests i.e. music, reading. Honest feedback is welcome. I may have answered my own question - a piece of paper that can be rolled on to the cylinder just enough to adhere it to itself in the back. Paper would have text and possibly pics/drawings. Oh yes, he's to painting now. Great work!

I like the paper idea; perhaps take it a step further and create a coat of arms that has his surname and interests on it. I'd love to see what you end up doing with this!
