If you have a 30x30 foot closet, you have no problem finding 1,000 pair of shoes. If it's 30x30 inches, here's something I've done in the past when I had tons of shoes: 2 blocks on each side of the closet with a 6" wide board that reaches one side to the other. Followed that with 2 more blocks on top of the first board and so on. Of course, I had to almost go to the ceiling, but I got all of them on and I had easy access and vision of what all I had.

I know but storing 100 pairs will certainly take more than 30" X 30".....
