I'd use an adhesive caulk on the back, then use screws along the edge.

We attached ours to sheetrock using wood screws with washers going into the studs behind the sheetrock. We knew it would be getting heavy use, so we wanted it to stay up permanently. It's been years and no sign of coming down!

Before hanging, Mark, on ceiling or high on wall, where your studs are so you’re only screwing into the studs.

Your first step will be to firmly attach 1”X1/2” wood slats or shims to the back of pegboard, top and bottom. If you attach directly to the wall, you won’t be able to use pegs - they need space behind the board To click in. I would then predrill holes in the frame to align with studs, then hang, screwing in top and bottom. Pegboard is heavy. Predrilling your holes will make it way easier.

attach a piece of 2x2 wood (length of the piece of pegboard) on each side and in the middle of where you wish to place the pegboard...anchoring into the studs or by using wall anchors for strength. Then screw the pegboard into the pieces of wooD

We just did this last weekend. We ended up using the metal pegboard, it was more expensive then the big cardboard type kind. We did it because we felt it would last longer and because we can just keep adding to it in increments. Also you get to skip a step of putting wood behind it, so it was up in about 15 minutes.
