Is it true if you put cedar chips around your house it will keep insec
We have Boxelder bugs under our siding and they make us completely miserable during the summer months. We also have bees under our sighting. Can someone tell me how to get rid of boxelder bugs and bees, and should I try cedar chips?

Carpenter bees can cause real damage to siding. If they are honey bees, they will colonize and make quite a honey mess bringing other bugs in to get the honey and even rodents. The rodents will prey on the boxelder bugs, but yuck! I suggest you get a pro out to look at the trees close to the house and the siding to determine a course of action. Good luck.
We had an infestation of box elder bugs at our last house. One side would be totally covered during the hot summer months. The house had aluminum siding. I mixed Dawn dishwashing soap and water in a 32 oz. spray bottle (you only need about 4 tablespoons) and sprayed them several times a week. It doesn’t hurt the siding and it killed the bugs. I also sprayed Ortho Home Defense around the whole outside perimeter of the house which helped keep them from coming inside.
I have read that various mulch products made from wood are bug attracters and its better to use rubber mulch. https://www.walmart.com/ip/GroundSmart-Rubber-Mulch-Mocha-Brown-98-bags-0-08-cu-ft-78-4-cu-ft/34400861?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=4623&adid=22222222228022765382&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=40472076512&wl4=aud-273067695102:pla-78363151832&wl5=9008570&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=34400861&wl13=4623&veh=sem

You will have to cut down and kill any Boxelder trees on your property. Sorry, but we never found anything else that really works.
Nope here it actually attracts carpenter ants that eat your house.
Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth should do the trick.
D.E. is a substance made up of the fossilized remains of plankton; it looks and feels silky like talc powder.
It can kill any bug with an exoskeleton, such as beetles and cockroaches, but is safe for other animals to eat. It is a popular way to kill bugs without using insecticide. So if your pet or local birds or animals decide to eat the dead bugs it won't hurt them.
(*It is important to get Food Grade not the kind that goes in pool filters, as that kind is not effective because of the way the heat processing changes the D.E.'s surface texture.)
It can be applied by sprinkling around the base of the house or spraying with water on plants, but will not be effective while wet.
*It also has health benefits for people; see this article... https://www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/5-benefits-of-diatomaceous-earth/
I forgot to mention, you can get Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth in bulk at local most feed stores.
