If the burnt smell is from your oven--open the windows! I also use Febreze Air Heavy Duty spray to help remove odors. You can also set out bowls of vinegar. You could try a diffuser with some great smelling essential oils or burn some odor removing candles. If the burnt smell is from something bigger and you think you have a smoke smell/residue on you walls--you could wash the walls with a vinegar/water solution.
I smell your pain. Make sure the burned area is cleaned, including any pots, pans, oven floor, cooktop, and the filter of the stove fan. Leave baking soda sprinkled on top of the area after it is clean. Spray everything you can with Febreeze—I spray cabinet liners, dishtowels, pot holders, the stove filters, silk flowers, ribbons on vases, and every rug. If possible set up a crossbreeze to air the house out. Clean any walls or ceiling sections that might have absorbed the odor. Most walls and cabinets that can be cleaned can also be Febreezed. Make sure not to let all the water evaporate from the pan, otherwise you will have burnt spices stuck to the pan.
Here are some ideas... Boiling water and lemon slices, sit out bowls of vinegar to absorb or pour vinegar on paper towels and let them air dry. In a musty basement, I've used charcoal bricks for barbeque. Just don't use the ones that have a fire starter product included. Baking soda also absorbs smells.

I would get a Room Shocker. They sell at Walmart, Lowes and I think Home Depot too. Its a professional odor remover.
