Check with your local nursery. They should be able to help you find what you need for your area. Where I live, I have found that Vinca flowers work for me anywhere. They come in many colors. Begonias seem to rot and Impatiens seem to get leggy (lots of stem, not lot of flowers). Geraniums seem fickle for me, some times they do good, some times not. Dahlias usually grow good for me and they also come in many colors. Pansies look good for most of the summer, but Vincas are really my go to for color. They are the ones that I can think of, I haven't started to think about what I'm going to do I my garden yet. Good luck. Happy Spring.

Variegated plants work very well these are the ones that are usually green with a yellowish tint to them. You can actually get some that are evergreens. Hostess or a perennial they are fast growing it looks like a peace lily plant show me a purple blooms some of white blooms. Elephant ears are shade loving plants as well allow plenty of room for them as their leaves are very large. Good luck with your flower bed talk to the flowers they understand you if they're having problems they will let you know don't overwater shade-loving plants Lowe's and Home Depot have large selections a blooming annuals and blooming perennials
