    Hi Mildred,

Try using 1 cup of baking soda, then 1 cup of vinegar to clean out your drain. If you have a garbage disposal, follow that with strips of lemon rind and ice cubes. Run the disposal until every thing is gone. A clean and smelling fresh sink will be the results. Wishing you the best.

Some people use baking soda and vinegar to clean the sinks. Pur in a half cup baking soda and cup of vinegar. I use Simple Green in my sinks. It disinfects and also deodorizes at the same time. You can get it at home improvement stores in spray or concentrate and in concentrate only at Walmart, but it is worth every penny.

Try putting some baking soda down the sink drain.

Do you have a garbage disposal? Often the gasket gets very gross and odorous. Buy a long handled scrub brush at the dollar store, put some dish soap onto it and scrub all over the rubber gasket on the outside. Then stick the brush down into the drain hole, pull the gasket inside out and scrub all over it again, then rinse the underside of the gasket. Reach the brush down into the disposal, and scrub everything that you can reach with it. Rinse everything well and then dump some baking soda down in there and let it sit for a half hour or so and then rinse thoroughly, running the disposal while rinsing.

If you run your disposal every night after cleaning up your dishes, and let the water run about a minute after you shut it off, that helps to flush it out and keep it clean. I do this scrubbing job on the nights that I run my dishwasher, then I rinse the brush off and put it into the dishwasher when I run it. Gets it nice and clean to be stored under the sink!

If it smells like sewer make sure the P trap is holding water to create a plug from sewer gas.

Denture tablets do a great job of cleaning drains & dishwasher. Run hot water in sink til water in trap is hot. Drop a tablet or two in, wait about 20 mins & flush with hot water. Smell be gone.

Drop 2 tablets in bottom of dishwasher & put 2 more in dispenser for 2nd wash. Turn on dishwasher on pots & pans cycle. When done you'll have a clean & clean smelling dishwasher.
