Should I deadhead Hygrangeas??

I rarely dead-head my hydrangeas because I like the way they look in the winter. Plus the spent flowers give the top buds some protection in the winter. I do clean them up in the late spring when they bloom, being careful not to cut off the new blooms. Just a side story, but I met a lady who spray paints her spent flowers to give her hydrangeas a splash of color in the winter. She has been doing this for years and her hydrangeas are beautiful when they bloom. I do know this goes somewhat against most advice, but it works for me. Wishing you the best.

If its before August then yes go ahead and cut them but be sure to take a long stem. After August they are setting new buds for the next spring. Hope that helps..
