How do I rebuild my steps for easy access to my carport door?

I need to re-do the steps from my carport to the back door. I have osteoarthritis in my hips and find it very difficult to go up and down the 7.5 inch rise brick steps. I need the rise to be probably 4 inches or less. I shopped my local home store to see what was available, but found nothing. The wooden pieces needed to build steps still had the 7.5 inch rise. I do not need a wheelchair ramp but rather, easy-access steps that can be built facing the front of the house instead of sticking out into the carport so that the tread part of the step is wider and the rise part of the step to be smaller.
What are my options on a budget?

I would use the regular riser but as far as the step goes I would use a thicker board as the step. That would make the step gap smaller but you may have to add a board at the bottom to raise it enough to shorten the gap of the first step.

We used cinder blocks and plywood make a platform that extended between the garage and back door. There is no longer a step down, it’s all one straight walkway. My grandma uses a cane and it has made it much easier for her. There is still a step down, but we’ve made it more gradual with bricks.

Is there enough room to just have a ramp instead?/ with handrail if none there already.

We found a step at a local department store (Boscov's) for just this exact purpose. It measures 4" high, 14" x 18". The drop off between the steps was beginning to be too much.

Found this in the "as seen on tv" section

    Hello Brenda,

Get your Builder or Friend to give you half steps (4") but that will mean it will take more steps and twice the distance to make that possible or maybe a ramp would be better for you?
