I need this to be in a safe way, so that my dog that chews everything in sight, doesn't get sick.
Thanks very much!

Safely getting rid of garden pests in my yard is a must for me as well....my dogs are my babies. There is a great article on how to deal with all sorts of pests out to make a meal out of your hostas. Here's the link...

Do you have an invisible fence? If you do -a remote training collar would be the perfect solution.

Whenever you eat eggs - save the shells - when they are dried out crush them up and spread them under and all round the hostas - the snails will not crawl over the sharp pieces and my dog has never been attracted to the egg shells. I use this method in pots and open soil.

Another method I have been told about is save all coffee grounds to spread around the hostas as snails wont cross over. (not tried this)
