    It would dilute the color.

Sandra, there are paint and primer available. Only one coat and enjoy the results.

  • While you may not enjoy painting twice, you will end up with a longer lasting and more professional result. Worth the time and effort. Since you are taking the time to do a project, make it count!

Naomie is right! And I have not yet found one that is really "one coat".

I have done this with some leftover primer and white paint. I used it on a textured ceiling in the bathroom. It worked great, but I would not use it on walls. Prime first then paint.

Do not mix them! Primer is usually a different base than your paint and it ruins both. Just do it once, do it right.

Primer is used to assist paint in adhering to walls. You can buy paint with primer already in it, but it is not as good as priming first. It is OK for living rooms, halls, etc. but if you are doing kitchen cabinets, it's best to prime first.
