I needed a way to raise my bike for maintenance items. I couldn't find a stand or jack that fits this type of bike, so I used a piece of one hundred year old oak to make an adapter for my floor jack. I wanted something that wouldn't scratch the powder coat on the frame.

Started by cutting the wood to the proper length.

Laying out the cuts that would be required to accept the cross member under the bike.

First rough cut using my sliding miter saw. There is a depth stop on the saw to let me make shallow cuts.

I added cross cuts at a deeper depth.

The metal foot on the jack just lifts out.

I used an old ax handle as a spindle for the adapter block. I used a small rasp to reduce the diameter so it would fit in the hole in the jack. Once the handle fit, I cut it to length.

I attached the spindle to the bottom of the block using a 2 and 3/4 " wood screw. This is very hard wood, so pre-drilling first is needed in the block and the maple ax handle.

Final cut on the block, I had to take some off of the width to clear the engine case on the bottom of the bike.

Final product results. The bike is lifted and suffered no scratches on the powder coating.

Black spray paint cleaned it up a little bit.
