Hello. You can use a darker stain. Different types of wood take the stain different. You may want to do a few coats if you are looking to get the molding really dark.

Hello. You can use a darker stain. Different types of wood take the stain different. You may want to do a few coats if you are looking to get the molding really dark.
Usually, you can. Might need to clean withTSP first.
Sand lightly , clean well and then use your stain and finish with at least two coats of varathane.
