Do you ever have that annoying problem where you have one spot on your couch that has no good space to put a drink? We had this issue in our home, and needed a good way to solve it - so we made a little sofa sleeve for the arm of our sofa to create a mini table that's perfect for a drink! If you love this project, you can see more easy and affordable DIY ideas on my blog, Love & Renovations.
We used a scrap piece of walnut for this project. Start by cutting your board to fit your measurements (more on that in a second), with mitered corners in the spots where the boards will meet (as shown above).

For the measurements, it will vary depending on the size of your sofa arm. Measure how wide the arm is, then add approximately 1/4-1/2" to allow the table to slide on easily. For the sides, it's a matter of personal preference - we had our table come down about 6" on each side, and it is about 6" wide.
Thoroughly sand your pieces...
Apply wood glue to the mitered corners, then fit the boards together and use something heavy to help hold it all in place while it dries.
Once everything has dried thoroughly, you can apply your desired finish (we just applied a clear protective top coat), and you're good to go! You can see more details of the project (including one extra step we took) on my full blog post.

How do you cut the angles of the wood, if you don’t have special equipment, for them to fit together ? What is the angle if I have to go to a hardware store to pay for the wood to be cut

Do you think this would work on an overstuffed sofa? My favorite reading spot has soft pillow-like arms. (It makes an excellent pincushion as it's my favorite handsewing spot as well. 😁)

When I first saw your project I couldn't see that it just cuffed the sofa (cool idea, btw) and my brain filled in the outer side extending to the floor and then another piece of wood extending across the floor under the sofa as a leg, like a large C shape. What do you think of that as an alternative for me?
